[SPEAKER_00]: The licking my little bit of saliva, a little bit of blood dripping off. [SPEAKER_00]: It's licking my face. [SPEAKER_00]: My daughter says like, oh that looks like mom. [SPEAKER_00]: And mom's like, Aaron's like, uh, which point like with who like dad looks like mom like no no no mom that the zombie looks like you and she's like oh, why she's like it looks like you That's awesome.

[SPEAKER_00]: I always have lineups of women just begging to lick my face. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what's on me? [SPEAKER_00]: You tell them to hand that there's a line-up. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Keep it to the side. [SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, the first one in line and the other one's trying to get in there.

[SPEAKER_00]: I finished dotting all the eyes and crossing all the tees for the trip to New Zealand for a long time. [SPEAKER_00]: People were offering to send money and be kind and [SPEAKER_00]: At the time we hadn't exhausted our resources with all the different types of insurance and feedback with the government. [SPEAKER_00]: So, um, politely decline those, but just this situation was just really kind that there was a donor that was just out of nowhere, just like you're going, that's that, and enough for the whole family. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, [SPEAKER_00]: It's still like, I guess as we're getting closer to the actual trip, I'm getting a little bit more like it's excited, but it's like a humble and subdued excitement because it's just such a generous gift.

4:45 [SPEAKER_00]: And so the kids are crazy, excited, my wife is excited and all the small little details are taken care of for all the little fancy trips we're doing because we extended, you know, [SPEAKER_00]: White homo caves. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the glowing worm cave or whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: I forget I have to read them because I haven't taken the time to memorize them But we're doing a couple of the big day trips. [SPEAKER_00]: You know the 12 hour trips and just really really excited for the opportunity And kids are crazy stoked it'll be awesome to travel with the family which is something we wouldn't have been able to do before not something this [SPEAKER_00]: extreme. [SPEAKER_00]: So that should be fun. [SPEAKER_00]: That's awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: But then, you know, podcast related. [SPEAKER_00]: It's its XL con.

5:26 [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: And so there's just been lots of like real life has been completely intertwined. [SPEAKER_00]: More so than usual with Path of XL because [SPEAKER_00]: You know, real life would be intertwined with POE normally for a die-hard because like, well, what could I do with this? [SPEAKER_00]: Or I wonder if I could do this with that, you know, in terms of theory crafting while you're mowing the lawn or going for a drive or waiting for the bus. [SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, there's that regular kind of intertwined, but this time it's all just like, no, my life is literally revolving around path of exile for the next three weeks. [SPEAKER_00]: And it did this week too, because just, you know, making sure you have everything and so we're going to be doing the final packing and all that kind of stuff this week and it was just preparing for the dog and the cats and all that and so it's good.

6:12 [SPEAKER_00]: Who's watching dog like family? [SPEAKER_00]: No, we're actually going to board the dog again. [SPEAKER_00]: That's because he's a puppy, well also because he's 80 pounds, and my mom has, after my dad died, my mom emphasized that we're a joking family, we really [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: We enjoy just laughing about things and so after dad died mom said don't you get any ideas of pushing me off a bridge? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't have life insurance. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: Don't you do it like what I'm dead. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just dead. [SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna be really boring. [SPEAKER_00]: And she's like, and don't spend money on a funeral. [SPEAKER_00]: Just do a graveside thing. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, spit on my grave and off you go. [SPEAKER_00]: And so, because I'm not getting anything for my mom, I'm not going to let her take care of my 80-pound dog to the speed of the process.

6:56 [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, but we're going to get him boarded also because he's a puppy. [SPEAKER_00]: It'll just give him two straight weeks of being with other dogs. [SPEAKER_00]: Non-stop. [SPEAKER_00]: And hopefully that'll just get it out of the system. [SPEAKER_00]: Of course, we'll have to like retake him everything we know because, you know, he's going to just be loose with other dogs for two weeks. [SPEAKER_00]: constant drive to be around dogs, hopefully. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, and even if naughty immediately, he's going to be a year old by that point right next month, he's a year, and then I just think into, it'll have a lot of really good long-term stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: So we're spending the money to boredom, bored him, and then we have people both my mom for one week and then other family for the next week coming over to take care of the cats once a day.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I love cats, but I hate cats, like I could honestly live without cats, no problem, but when we have some, it is, yeah, but I'm, our cats, they're very typical cats, and I do not sleep well with very typical cats. [SPEAKER_00]: All the sounds they make at night, all the crap they're getting into, all their nails going on the, it's not laminate, I don't know, final, blanking. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think I've slept well since we got them last. [SPEAKER_00]: What was it November? [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm going to sleep so well in New Zealand, man. [SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be great. [SPEAKER_00]: Be so quiet. [SPEAKER_00]: So. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, to answer your question, we're doing well. [SPEAKER_00]: We just, uh, it's just been the prep, right? [SPEAKER_00]: It's just been having a good time and enjoying it.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's, uh, the day that we're recording today is Halloween, even though this will come out what on the second of November. [SPEAKER_00]: It's Halloween tonight and. [SPEAKER_00]: like my kids are 11 and 13, so it's just like the prime perfect time. [SPEAKER_00]: Violet wants to go trick or treat her. [SPEAKER_01]: No, it's Halloween's here tomorrow. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, today's the 30th tomorrow's the 30th. [SPEAKER_01]: We're there for now. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, well, the kids are just not for Halloween. [SPEAKER_00]: They dress up for the last day. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, but violent wants to go trick or treating on our own this year. [SPEAKER_00]: And Aaron's like, yeah, like 13's that awkward age. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yes, she have like friends going to that. [SPEAKER_00]: Why or else wants to go on on.

9:06 [SPEAKER_00]: And so we drove around the other day and showed her the exact route she has to take just in case Mom and I start pissing our pants and we got to go all right. [SPEAKER_00]: Nope. [SPEAKER_00]: Go find Violet and just put a hat dark hat on and walk a block behind [SPEAKER_00]: That's exactly right, you're on your own. [SPEAKER_01]: No problem. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's right. [SPEAKER_00]: I won't freaking anybody else So and then all of her he's going with the buddy, but because he just knows he's going with the buddy They haven't planned anything. [SPEAKER_00]: Why my bother raise like why no, I'm going with with this guy And we're just gonna walk through your house and then we're like So we want to who we want to do [SPEAKER_00]: You know, like from the Vultures from what's that called Robinhood?

[SPEAKER_01]: He did his thing like he had a birthday with his friends and stuff, and then we have family coming over tonight, and then finally it's done. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, the week was good. [SPEAKER_01]: It was busy trying to think of what happened that would be, I finished book eight of Dungeon Crawler Carl. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm officially finished for what exists, which now I'm eight. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but you're not waiting for like the next, but no, I swear to fire. [SPEAKER_01]: I swear to God if he's like George Martin, we're gonna have a problem, which I know he's not. [SPEAKER_01]: So no, you got to finish the series before you get into TV stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: George R. Martin's now busy with the Elden Ring movie.

11:11 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, he's never finishing the books. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, why bother? [SPEAKER_00]: There's a movie, go watch it, or a TV show. [SPEAKER_00]: And the hilariously George R. Martin added tons of... [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it was Martin or who, but there's lots of insistent Elden Ring too. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just his thing, I guess. [SPEAKER_01]: I finished the book. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm reading his, uh, it's like a one-off book that he has. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I can't remember what it's called. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I took a picture of a shirt and discord. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I bought that. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think I might start the Dune series afterwards while I wait only because I don't want to read them. [SPEAKER_01]: So she's like, well, if you get them, then I can read them. [SPEAKER_00]: Frank Herbert's a very different author. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to [SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't even barely tell you the author is a dungeon color car right now.

11:58 [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's like man I didn't enter something. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's not something but it's on every page. [SPEAKER_00]: You think I would know it But no Right Getting right. [SPEAKER_00]: I guess that's a good testament to a good author You don't even you just can't wait to read the next word. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't care is the author is I don't care a little while [SPEAKER_00]: I guess. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, because really like her job, so you like when or can, however, pronounce their name, so we'd be more inclined to read that something else by them. [SPEAKER_00]: But so what is it about the Dune series? [SPEAKER_00]: Just the fact Christina wants to read it? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure she's read a billion other books before though, or no, not really. [SPEAKER_01]: She's like, well, we both enjoyed the show.

12:38 [SPEAKER_01]: And so she's kind of curious to read the books, because the books always have more information, right? [SPEAKER_01]: You're learning more about the [SPEAKER_01]: the story. [SPEAKER_00]: I'd get into the Dune series. [SPEAKER_00]: Not saying right now to do it together. [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: I was intending on it and never have. [SPEAKER_00]: It's been one of those like, I really want to, but then one other thing comes up. [SPEAKER_00]: Sure. [SPEAKER_00]: Then one other thing comes up. [SPEAKER_00]: So not asking you to do the thing we did with dark, where we do it at the same pace. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But if you're up for it, I would add that. [SPEAKER_01]: It's currently on my next plan after I finish this book, which I don't think this book's actually going to take me very long. [SPEAKER_01]: This one off book of his. [SPEAKER_01]: The the layout and the whatever, I don't think it's going to take me very long to finish that book.

13:21 [SPEAKER_01]: The biggest reason for doing though is because it was right beside Dungeon Crawler Carl, like in the section. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just there and he's like, oh, okay, and then Christina brought it up and I'd seen people talk about it. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I'll give it a shot. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, so I finished the book. [SPEAKER_01]: We did birthday stuff this week. [SPEAKER_01]: I had a service done on my hot tankless hot water and my furnace. [SPEAKER_01]: And it was funny because the guy I was working in the guy I was chatting with him a little bit and then he had to leave and he's like, I'm like, gaming chair. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So he got a little bit of gaming chair and I'm like, oh, I'm trying to think of my head. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, oh yeah, the logic deck. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, behind me and I said, yeah, I, I, it's mostly just because I have a bad back actually like it's a really good chair for my back, but he's like, oh, no, the game of thrones, uh, yeah, the game of thrones, what's the thing?

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, yeah, I think they're insanely uncomfortable But he's like, I just got to give him a picture myself. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, okay cool. [SPEAKER_00]: So And then the point those appointments for that company always take longer. [SPEAKER_00]: I I appreciate how Happy the oh, I don't talk to them. [SPEAKER_00]: Employees are oh, I do. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I do. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, really? [SPEAKER_00]: I do. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, you just I hears your stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: There's the stairs to your thing. [SPEAKER_01]: It's awesome [SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you have a baseboard heaters in your house? [SPEAKER_01]: Like our upstairs is baseboard. [SPEAKER_01]: So our upstairs is baseboard heaters because they never did venting all the way up.

14:54 [SPEAKER_01]: They did it on the main floor in the basement, but not the upstairs. [SPEAKER_01]: So we've always had electric baseboard heaters upstairs. [SPEAKER_01]: And I've tried over the years to upgrade them, but there's not a lot of options you have for it. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I looked a couple of years ago for these new smart thermostats. [SPEAKER_01]: But they were too expensive for me to put into each room. [SPEAKER_01]: So we just have the normal turn the dial thermostat, like the mercury's behind it. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know what it is. [SPEAKER_01]: But we were trying to figure out some stuff this week. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I'm going to look into it. [SPEAKER_01]: They, this company, MISA, they make smart thermostats. [SPEAKER_01]: They have a deal with BCIger. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if they were made in BC or started in BC. [SPEAKER_01]: but B.C.

15:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Hydro has a deal with these guys where they give you up to five for free if you join up with some B.C. [SPEAKER_01]: Smart something. [SPEAKER_01]: There is some like talk behind it because people are like I don't want B.C. [SPEAKER_01]: Hydro controlling the temperature in my house because they you agree to some deal where they can like reduce your temperature by three degrees during peak hours. [SPEAKER_01]: But you can also just hit the button on the thermostat to override it and just go back up and if you do it for at least 50% of the year During the times that they want to do it Yeah, like I don't 50 dollar credit, which I couldn't care about this about the credit, but I was like if there could be 650 dollars worth of thermostats [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so I have those coming, so see how that goes.

16:17 [SPEAKER_00]: That's cool. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they have some pretty phenomenal rebates and deals if you do it within their time frame. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: We've always missed out by like three months on all of their fancy things. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I we've never gotten a good one either. [SPEAKER_01]: My brother has a full heat pump thing for his house. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like a $20,000 thing and that he got for free because the BC hydro was doing some testing thing during a period of time and he's like a freaking sleuth on the internet when it comes to money. [SPEAKER_01]: He just smells like, oh wait a minute, I could save some of that. [SPEAKER_01]: That's right. [SPEAKER_01]: If I type dot c a slash b r. Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So, but otherwise, the week was good. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think [SPEAKER_01]: I, oh, I did a lot of volleyball stuff, a lot of volleyball stuff.

17:02 [SPEAKER_01]: And we have a big tournament. [SPEAKER_01]: My daughter's an internment this weekend. [SPEAKER_01]: So, oh, goodness. [SPEAKER_01]: That's fun. [SPEAKER_01]: And she's liking it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she loves it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's so funny, though, because she likes it for funny reasons, which actually I'm not going to talk about. [SPEAKER_01]: But she has funny reasons for why she likes to play sports. [SPEAKER_01]: And I can't talk about it because I don't want to bring any attention to her or the school or whatever, but it's pretty amusing. [SPEAKER_01]: That's cute, but no, life's good things are good. [SPEAKER_01]: I think there's like there's some video games coming out soon I think I've heard and I've thought of and wow are coming out soon. [SPEAKER_01]: I think a way more importantly age of empires Oh, yeah, to make you ask them to fly nice scots and Vikings.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, came out Yes, try I did yeah, you would of course you did I did [SPEAKER_00]: How are the Vikings because I don't care about any of those, that's all I'm going to play. [SPEAKER_00]: Actually, the Scots are, I want to phrase equal, the Vikings are really cool. [SPEAKER_00]: They give free villagers auto-produced until you tell them to stop, per town center, so each town center would consistently pump them out then. [SPEAKER_00]: If you have each one does, but you ink, there's now a villager cap. [SPEAKER_00]: and a population cap for that specific fact. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's just auto-produce until it hits the cap or until you tell it to stop.

18:23 [SPEAKER_00]: Their houses are 175 bucks each would, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But they also produce spearmen and you can select one of four perks for them. [SPEAKER_00]: So they can auto-produce housing. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they can auto-produce a veggie patch, which is a farm patch, but 50% better two of them. [SPEAKER_00]: It can produce gold. [SPEAKER_00]: It can produce, it can auto-research all previous offensive blacksmith upgrades, or it can auto-research all defensive blacksmith upgrades, and you auto build a, [SPEAKER_01]: But you don't have to select the house and then pick that one to upgrade it.

19:12 [SPEAKER_00]: You do, so you have to build this expensive house and then you have to go back to the place where you upgrade the which upgrade one upgrade and then each of those perks has a limit. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you build, let's say you build 20 houses, you can only have like six of the gold ones, six of the food ones, one of the, one of the houses still only provide 10 population. [SPEAKER_00]: No, they provide I would think for a hundred ten to the villagers and 15 for the max. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my goodness why forget, but you can go to like 220 Hmm, instead of 200 so 200 without that's without the King Monarch business. [SPEAKER_00]: So cool Yeah, they're very unique and they both have a lot of movement speed for their infantry, which I like [SPEAKER_00]: And this one thing that I really liked about the Scots, which I mean, I mean, we can get into this any other time too, but the Scots, they're infantry can see through the trees.

[SPEAKER_01]: So there has been, it's been a bit slow because we didn't have a POE1 league happening in between there. [SPEAKER_01]: We didn't have an exciting, at least for me. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think for you either, [SPEAKER_01]: So, we've been stalled out because they've been delaying, you know, because they've got Xalkon coming. [SPEAKER_01]: So, I feel like this is, this is going to be exciting because not only is the POE-1 league dropping the week after, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And the thing that really interests me about developing new classes, that it's two people that I've never, that we don't have a narrative, like Kevin Reedan and James Woodmanzy, he always assume, especially when you have faces of a franchise like Mark and Octavian and Jonathan, [SPEAKER_00]: Rory, you would have people coming in, talking that the community knows and they just assume the community assumes that all the information goes through these people and that they're approved or declined and so at the end of the day, that all needs to be done through them, but then you and I have a conversation with Rishi and we're like, holy smokes, look at the amount of creativity that has to get done before it even gets to the table.

[SPEAKER_01]: And so they're not polished and they're very real and I actually appreciate that because I just feel like you're getting a more honest conversation and hearing about it.
